what is the city? a city in sight comes from the song i don't have the map by the scottish band idlewild. it tells me about a time when i realised that, in my life, no matter how many guides and maps and plans i have, everywhere i go and everything i do will ultimately remain unknown until i get there/it happens--- every event is a variable, and each event is a significant part of one's [my] being which separates each [my] life from another's. my life is a journey that has no itinerary, where the only plan i attempt to make is each step before i take it. and that, of course, is merely to prevent stepping in something absolutely vile. when it happens you'll feel like an islander you'll see ships and they'll be reminders that you're on an island i'm on an island the chances are there's a reason we've been left here but I'm not disappointed the chances are there's a reason we've been left the chances are, the chances are as it happens there's a city in sight you're getting confused by local lamplight by local lamplight don't buy local lamplights |
